James Nestor is a science writer and journalist who has published widely in popular journals and newspapers like The New York Times, The Atlantic, Outside Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Scientific American. Nestor also has worked on numerous multimedia and outreach initiatives, including NPR and TED talks, and has been involved in documentary projects as well. His first book, Deep: Freediving, Renegade Science, and What the Ocean Tells Us about Ourselves (2014) received widespread acclaim and several award nominations, including the BBC Book of the Week.
In many respects, Deep is a precursor to Breath, which takes Deep’s ideas of human potential and adaptability a step further as Nestor himself becomes involved in radical breathing experiments and therapies.
