Tall, thin, and beautiful, Daisy Jones seems destined for stardom from a young age. She leaves a privileged but lonely life in the Hollywood Hills for the seductive adventures of the Sunset Strip, where she throws herself into the whirlwind of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll. Daisy is beautiful and often touted as an ornament for successful men, but she is smart, tough, and eager to prove herself. She has a difficult time making friends, because in the world of groupies and rock bands, drugs and partying, truly caring for someone is a hard thing to accomplish. Daisy’s friend Simone is the only person Daisy can trust, but Simone is often away pursuing her own music career, leaving Daisy with either her parents, who are uninterested in her, or the rotation of successful men who become entranced by her looks and charm.
Daisy is well-connected and a popular face in magazines, so she finds a manager and recording deal in little time. She is adamant that her creative work reflect her authentic self. Though Daisy wants to live a life free of the control of men, she finds herself in one destructive relationship after another.
